Writing update: Wattpad and my NaNoWriMo fail

I can’t remember the last time I published a writing update post, but this one should be more exciting than the rest, I hope.

I logged into my Wattpad account today, which I had created 10 months ago, and failed to actually publish anything on. I guess you could say I was nervous to publicly share my work, when it was a first draft, and probably not the best I could do. However, today I decided to just take a leap of faith and publish part of chapter 1. You’re probably thinking, why did you decide to do this? Well, it was actually inspired by my NaNoWriMo fail.

I was so excited to take part in NaNoWriMo until November 1st when reality started to sink in. I had been really keen on the idea for the novel, that I’d spent more time talking, and blogging about it, than actually planning. Yes, that’s right, the amateur writer came out in me, as I failed to even write a basic outline. Nevertheless, I’m trying to remain positive, and that is all thanks to Wattpad.

So, as we’ve now established, I didn’t manage to finish, or even write 5000 words in November. However, I did write 2796 words which will now be getting published on Wattpad. I currently don’t have any follows and it would be lovely to receive some feedback, as I gradually get used to Wattpad, and make a decision to continue writing on it or not.

If you took part in NaNoWriMo or have a Wattpad account, let me know in the comments. I always love talking to fellow aspiring authors or anyone who shares the same passion for writing. 🙂

Until next time keep dreaming x

  1. Read part of your book on your Wattpad it’s awesome! Keep writing its great. Those three paragraphs generated a lot of excitement, suspense and intrigue. I was hooked. I want to read more! For me I am taking a break on writing I wrote my 800th story and I want to start writing a second horror slasher book dedicated to Wes Craven by the end of December or start of the next year. Continue writing your book it rocks and good luck with it!
