All these differences are tearing us apart…

The world confuses me, frustrates me, even scares me sometimes. All these differences are tearing us apart and we’re letting them.

Years ago, centuries before the millennium and modern day world we have today, differences still exsisted. Differences which are gradually becoming more and more aparant as time moves on.

Now, before I continue, I’m not talking about differences in race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or the wide spectrum that is importantly titled ‘diversity’. I’m simply talking about the difference between those that have and those that do not. Whether that be the possessions you own, the place that you call home or even the food that you eat.

Diversity, and the importance of spreading acceptance for it, is something that I wholeheartedly believe in. But that’s much too broad for this little post. This little post that is just my random thoughts after scrolling through Twitter at nearly 2am.

The IPhone 7 has recently been released and as always, many people are eager to buy it/have already bought it. That doesn’t make them a bad person. After all, it would be hypocritical of me to assume they are a materialistic and selfish human being when I in fact own the IPhone 6. But it did make me think. Why are we spending time promoting a phone when there is a child without a home? Why are we letting unimportant objects define us as a human race?

Throughout history, there has always been the privileged and the underprivileged. The people who had more than they needed and the people who had less. But we didn’t have the awareness of such separation like we do now. So, why are things staying the same?

I’ve came to the conclusion that there isn’t an answer, or it is too brutally honest that we would all rather pretend it doesn’t exist at all. The world is becoming more selfish and sometimes, even if you give money to charities, volunteer, or try to help the environment, it just never seems enough.

I’m here to tell you the truth and open your eyes so much that you encourage me to open mine as well. Let’s stop making excuses. Let’s help when we can and spread awareness when we cannot. Let’s bridge the gap between any differences except the ones that shape us and make us who we are. Differences, and having diversity in this world is so very important. But not these differences. Not the differences that mean life or death. Not the differences that mean the fortunate would rather turn their back on the helpless than actually help.

These differences are tearing us apart and it’s time we reflected on past mistakes and made a change.

Until next time keep dreaming x
