About

Hello world,

I started this blog as a seventeen year old who lacked confidence. She didn’t know who she was. I do. So, unlike my original about page, this one will be a little different. This is who I am, and I hope that, with a bit of luck, you will want to continue reading more about my life.

Just a few small facts about me…

img_1020.jpg

I’m half Turkish and half English.

(This is the fact I use for nearly all icebreakers I have had to take part in.)

I’m left handed which always seems to be a conversation starter.

(Whilst writing in class someone always asks the obvious ‘Are you left handed?’)

  I can bake but I can’t cook.

(This really is one of the most interesting things about me)

I write when I have time, and I dream when I don’t. I immerse myself in music, and find myself being inspired by it each and every day. I cry when I’m stressed, and I feel things too deeply. I’m sensitive (more than I would like to admit). I can be defensive (even though I wish I wasn’t so). But I’m human.

One day, I hope to share my stories on bookshelves around the world. Until then, I hope you enjoy seeing the journey. I once said that “this is a blog for the daydreamers and optimists,” but that was a lie. It’s a blog for the realists.

Until next time keep dreaming x

  1. Ha! You sound like a young me (except for the half Turkish, half English part). I am left handed, can bake, not cook and daydreaming was one of my favorite activities as a teen. Of course I am older now, with 4 children that are older than teens themselves. Enjoy the moments.

  2. Hey Melis I created a Blogger Hall Of Fame and I inducted 5 people. You are one of them. ‘The 2015 Dan Curley Blogger Hall Of Fame Inductees’ have influenced WordPress in a positive way. I do a write up on everyone on my wordpress and offer nice words and mention why they were picked. Congrads Melis you made it to The Hall Of Fame!

  3. Helloo! I wanted to invite you over to a blogging event I’m holding on a monthly basis, it would be absolutely lovely having you partake as well. It consists of you documenting your life every month through your memories.
I already posted my writing about my month and I have the rules here: https://thoughtsofasociallyanxiousextrovert.wordpress.com/my-monthly-memories-monthly-blogging-event/ It’d be lovely reading one of your My Monthly Memories posts. Thanks again and I hope you have a wonderful day!

  4. haha I am left-handed too and you are absolutely right that for some reason it is such a huge conversation starter!

And while i can cook AND bake, i totally understand why someone can bake but not cook – i am way better at baking. i think its because baking involves exact measurement and rules whereas cooking is more up to trial and error.

    keep dreaming xo

  5. Hey melis, just read what you wrote after Brexit. It was really good. I wish I had known you that day. I felt so confused and sad I just wandered about Middlesbrough appreciating all the different cultures that surround us. I couldn’t find any solace in the retainers either as they were too angry and you summed it up perfectly. X great blog xx

    1. Hi Hayley! Thank you so much for reading it, never mind giving such fab feedback. It was difficult to avoid being biased, but I wanted people to read it without feeling the need to disagree with me haha. 🙂 x
